Federated Analysis 101
In the inaugural webinar of the Federated Analysis: State of the Science Collective Learning Series, Dr. Kim McGrail, HDRN Canada Scientific Director and Dr. Robert Platt, CNODES Executive Co-Lead, establish common understanding and language around federated analysis in a Canadian health data context. In examining the current state of the science, Drs. McGrail and Platt will explain why federated analysis is needed and explore the challenges that motivate the need for it in the health data research space.
About the Speakers
Dr. Kim McGrail is the CEO and Scientific Director of HDRN Canada. She is a Professor in School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia, Director of Research for UBC Health, and Scientific Director of Population Data BC. Her research interests are quantitative policy evaluation and all aspects of population data science. Dr. McGrail was part of the Expert Advisory Group for the pan-Canadian Health Data Strategy and is currently a member of the OECD’s Global Partnership for AI.
Dr. Robert Platt is a Professor in the department Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health at McGill University. He holds the Albert Boehringer I endowed chair in Pharmacoepidemiology. Dr. Platt is the Executive Co-Lead of CNODES and has been leader of the Methods team of CNODES since its inception. His main research interests are statistical methods and applications for administrative data, pharmacoepidemiology, perinatal epidemiology, and methods for causal inference from epidemiological studies.
